How to Install Iron Newel Posts

This guide will help you understand how to install a wrought iron newel post using our iron newel mounting kit.
Our kit contains a bracket, bolts, set screws and the shoe to cover the bracket. However, we recommend you use a can of epoxy such as our EPC-7 epoxy can, as the set screws on the kit might not be enough to ensure permanent installation.

Let’s begin!

Trim the iron newel post to length.

1. Determine the newel length above the tread and add 6-1/4″ to the measurement for insertion into the newel mounting sleeve. Cut the newel from the bottom with a metal chop saw or portable band saw.

Prepare the Mounting Surface

2. Locate and mark where the newel will be mounted.

3. Using a paddle bit, drill a hole into the surface.

4. Use a jigsaw to cut out the square outline. Blocking material must be cut using a reciprocating saw, cut to depth to accommodate the full length of the newel sleeve.

Secure the iron newel post

5. Slide the iron newel collar onto the newel and slide the newel into the newel mounting sleeve.

6. Using an allen wrench, tighten the 3 set screws into the side holes of the sleeve.

7. Slide the newel with attached sleeve into the hole and secure with the 4 anchoring screws to permanently attach the newel to the mounting surface.

8. Using our EPC-410 or EPC-7, two part epoxy, secure the newel collar to the mounting surface.

CREDIT AND PAYMENT TERMS
Westfire Manufacturing will establish an open account credit arrangement with established firms upon receipt of satisfactory trade and credit information. Open account payment terms, if any, will be determined by Westfire Manufacturing. All orders are subject to approval and acceptance by Westfire Manufacturing. Unpaid delinquent invoices are subject to a 2% per month (24% per annum) service charge. Buyer will be responsible for all costs, including attorney fees, incurred by Westfire Manufacturing for the collection of unpaid delinquent invoices. All good sold and shipped remain the property of Westfire Manufacturing until paid in full.

FREIGHT TERMS
F.O.B. Tualatin, Oregon. If credit has been established, freight charges will be prepaid by Westfire Manufacturing and added to the invoice total. Customer is Responsible to Pay all Freight Charges if Order is Canceled while in Transit.

SHIPPING
Stair Part orders are shipped to the customer from the manufacturer's warehouse or the manufacturer of a specific style. Please note that Westfire is not responsible for delayed, lost or damaged freight.

CLAIMS
Claims for shortages, breakage or damage must be made directly with the transportation company. Claims for shortages must be made within one (1) day after shipment received. Customer must count boxes, approve and sign receiver from transportation company. Customer is responsible to verify shipment quantity.

RETURNS & CANCELLATIONS
Special orders or nonstandard products are not subject to return or cancellation if special raw material purchase and/or production has been initiated. All returns of non-defective goods must be in new resale able condition, shipped prepaid, and are subject to a 25% handling and restocking charge. Any parts having been altered or otherwise modified may not be returned. Returns are limited to stock purchased within the last 30 calendar day (No exceptions).
